Arts Place partners with the Blackford County Community Foundation to provide music instruction to interested young people in the county at a reduced cost through the MusicWorks program. The long-term goal of the program is to offer the opportunity to learn foundational music skills to every interested student so that each one learns to read music and play an instrument or sing in a proficient manner. Typically, three years of enrollment in individual lessons are needed for a student to reach that level of success.

Specifically, the program offers a group piano lab, individual instruction, a Musical Petting Zoo. The group piano lab (2 ten-week sessions) and the Musical Petting Zoo are gateway activities that lead students to want to continue through individual instruction.

Individual instruction is available in piano, violin, voice, guitar, brass, and woodwinds with local experts on those instruments.
