Guidelines and Criteria

Guidelines

The donor(s) will decide how to define the scholarship fund. The following guidelines may serve as examples of possible options when a donor is considering the establishment of such a fund with the Blackford County Community Foundation.

Criteria for Applicants

The applicants for the scholarship would usually meet some or all of the following criteria:

  • Be a graduating senior from a high school or be a student at the undergraduate or graduate level,
  • Be accepted to a four-year university or college, a community college, or a vocational school,
  • Show achievement in academics, a minimum GPA, athletic, community service, leadership or character, demonstrate financial need, etc., and/or,
  • Have demonstrated superior work in a particular field of study.

Purpose of the scholarship:

  • To give financial support toward the expense of the tuition, and/or room and board.
  • To be awarded as a one-time "lump sum" award or a renewable award if certain criteria are met.

The above guidelines are offered only as items to consider for establishing a specific scholarship fund. The Foundation is an advocate supporting scholarships for deserving students. Please call us if you have additional questions at 765-348-3411.
