CAPE Endowment Fund

This fund was started from Lilly Endowment Inc.’s Community Alliance to Promote Education (CAPE) initiative. The original grant was awarded to the Blackford County Community Foundation and Blackford County Schools in 2001 to fund programs focused on improved literacy learning for young children. The fund continues to aid literacy projects.

William E. Ervin Memorial Fund

This fund was created in memory of William E. Ervine, a local attorney who enjoyed local history and was a lifelong reader. The fund provides grants to literacy programs, most recently providing dictionaries to all Blackford County third graders and the “Life of Pres. A. Lincoln” portraits displayed in all Blackford County Schools.
